A wedding morning for a makeup artist runs to a tight schedule: the bride first or last, bridesmaids in between, the mother of the bride slotted in before photos, all timed to the minute. The invoice should reflect that schedule, list each person and service, and add the trial, touch-up kit, travel, and early-start fees clearly. This Makeup Artist Invoice Template does exactly that, with a header shaped like a black eye shadow compact holding ten round pans of color.

For Bridal, Editorial and Event Makeup Artists

It suits freelance and bridal makeup artists, hair and makeup teams, beauty studios offering on-location services, special-event and prom makeup artists, and editorial artists billing photo shoots. The sample shows Glow by Amara invoicing a bride for her own bridal makeup and lashes plus four members of her party, a trial, a touch-up kit, and travel.

An Eyeshadow Compact Across the Top

The header is a black compact with rounded corners, spanning the page. On the right, ten round pans sit in two rows: peachy nudes and warm bronzes on top, pinks, berries, and a gold shimmer below, each with a soft highlight like freshly pressed powder. On the left, Makeup Invoice is set in Yeseva One in white, with the artist’s name in pale pink and Bridal & editorial makeup artist beneath. Five small pans in the footer band echo the palette.

The bride’s details and the invoice number, wedding date, and getting-ready location follow. The wedding-morning schedule lists each person’s name, role, service, start time, and price. A second table lists extras. Pre-appointment instructions sit beside the totals, which subtract the booking retainer.

Planning a Wedding Morning Schedule

Most artists allow about 45–60 minutes for the bride and 30- 45 minutes for each other person. A simple way to build the schedule is to work backwards from the photographer’s arrival:

StepExample timing
Photographer arrives for getting-ready shots12:00 PM
Bride finished, with touch-up buffer11:45 AM
Mother of the bride11:00 – 11:45 AM
Bridesmaids (45 min each)9:30 – 11:00 AM
Bride starts (the sample begins earlier to allow lash time)8:00 AM

Share the schedule with the bride a week before, and put the final version on the invoice.

Pricing the Party

In the sample, bridal makeup with lashes is $250, the maid of honor’s full glam with lashes is $110, two bridesmaids at $95, and the mother of the bride’s soft glam at $95, totaling $645.00. Extras add $215.00: the bridal trial, a touch-up kit, and travel within 25 miles. The early-start fee is listed at zero because the day starts at 8 AM. After the $200 retainer, $660.00 is due a week before the wedding.

Trials, Retainers and Early Starts

A trial lets the bride test the look and helps you plan products and timing. Bill it at the time of the trial or on the final invoice, as the sample does. A booking retainer secures the date and is usually non-refundable. Early-start fees apply when the first appointment is before a set hour, often 7 AM, because it means a very early start and travel in the dark.

Editing the Schedule and Extras

The schedule, extras, and totals are editor tables. Double-click them or use Edit Table Data; add party members with + Add Row and remove unused rows with – Remove Last. The prices are typed text, so add up the party services and extras and subtract the retainer yourself before sending.

Skin Prep Instructions for the Party

The note beside the totals is where you prepare the party: arrive with clean, moisturized skin and no makeup, wear a button-front top so nothing has to go over the head, and share inspiration photos in advance. Clear instructions keep the morning on schedule and give you the best canvas.

Recoloring the Palette

The compact and its pans are a group, so you can recolor individual pans to match your signature looks, such as smoky grays for an editorial artist or brights for a festival season. The black compact can become rose gold or white for a softer brand, with the title color changed to match.

Sending the Invoice Before the Wedding

This template is sized for 8.5 x 11 inch paper. Send the balance invoice two to three weeks before the wedding with the final schedule, and ask for payment a week before, as the sample does. On the day, you can then focus on the makeup rather than collecting money.

Hygiene and Allergy Notes

Ask every person about allergies and sensitive skin before the day, and note any that matter, such as latex or lash glue sensitivity, in your records. Mention on the invoice that sanitized, individual tools are used for each person; brides appreciate knowing it.

Editorial and Commercial Shoots

For photo shoots, replace the party schedule with call times and looks, and bill a day or half-day rate with overtime per hour. Add a kit fee for special effects products and note any usage of your work, such as credit on published images.

Lashes, Airbrush and Product Upgrades

Many clients choose upgrades on the day: strip lashes or individual clusters, airbrush foundation for long-wear photos, or a take-home lipstick. Price each upgrade clearly on your menu and add it as its own line on the invoice, either in the Service column for the person or in the extras table. Agreeing upgrades during the trial avoids last-minute decisions that throw the schedule off in the morning.

Makeup Artist Invoice FAQs

Can I add hair styling to the same invoice?

Yes. Add a Hair column to the schedule or list hair services as separate lines for each person.

Can the bride pay the whole party’s bill?

Yes, as in the sample. If each person pays separately, split the schedule into individual invoices.

Should I charge for waiting time?

Many artists charge for delays caused by late arrivals; state the rate in your contract.

Do I charge sales tax on makeup services?

It depends on your state. Tax on products such as lashes or kits may apply even when services are exempt.
