Is FreeOnlineInvoice.com really free?
Yes. Creating invoices, previewing them live, and downloading them as PDF is free, with no signup and no credit card required. We may add optional paid features in the future, but the core invoice generator described on this site stays free.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Open the editor and start filling in your invoice immediately. If you want to keep working on the same invoice later, you can save a draft, which is stored locally in your own browser — not on our servers.
Where is my invoice data stored?
Everything you type stays in your browser unless you click "Download PDF." At that point, your data is sent to our server just long enough to render the PDF and stream it back to you — it is not saved in a database or log afterward. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
What file format do I get?
A standard, print-ready PDF file, generated from the same layout you see in the live preview. You can also print directly from your browser if you prefer not to download a file.
Can I use my own logo and brand colors?
Yes. You can upload a logo image and set an accent color that most templates use for headers, totals, and highlights, so the invoice matches your brand.
How many templates are there, and can I switch after I start?
There are 50+ templates across categories like minimal, corporate, creative, construction, medical, legal, and luxury. You can switch templates at any point while editing — your data carries over, only the layout changes.
What invoice and document types are supported?
Over 65 types, including standard invoices, commercial and proforma invoices, tax/VAT/GST invoices, freelance and hourly invoices, construction and trade-service invoices, medical and legal invoices, credit and debit notes, estimates, delivery notes, receipts, and more. The editor shows only the fields relevant to the type you pick.
Does it handle multiple tax rates and discounts?
Yes. You can add multiple named tax rates (compound or non-compound), apply per-line and global discounts, add shipping and other charges, and the totals are calculated with integer-safe math so amounts never drift from floating-point rounding errors.
Can I create a multi-page invoice with many line items?
Yes. The PDF layout paginates automatically — headers, margins, and totals are handled correctly across multiple pages, including when a long list of line items spans several pages.
What currency does it use?
You can select from a range of supported currencies, and amounts are formatted using the correct symbol and decimal convention for the one you choose.
Is this suitable for tax filing or legal compliance?
FreeOnlineInvoice.com formats and calculates the numbers you enter, but it does not know the specific compliance requirements of your jurisdiction or industry. Always verify a generated invoice meets your local requirements — see our Disclaimer for more.
Can I edit an invoice after downloading the PDF?
The PDF itself is a final, static document, but if you saved a draft, you can reopen it in the editor, make changes, and download a fresh PDF at any time.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, the editor and preview are responsive and usable on phones and tablets, though a larger screen makes it easier to see the full live preview while editing a longer invoice.
