Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 11, 2026
FreeOnlineInvoice.com ("we", "us", "the Service") is built around a simple principle: your invoice data is yours, and it should stay on your device unless you explicitly choose to send it to us. This policy explains exactly what happens to your data at each step of using the Service.
What stays in your browser
When you fill in the invoice editor, every field you type — business details, customer details, line items, taxes, notes — is held in memory in your browser and, if you use the "Save Draft" feature, written to your browser's local storage. None of this is transmitted to our servers automatically. You can close the tab, clear your browser data, or use the app entirely offline after the first page load, and your draft never leaves your device unless you take an action described below.
What is sent to our server, and why
Two actions send data to our server, both of which you trigger explicitly:
- Live preview: as you edit, the invoice content is sent to our server so it can be rendered into the same HTML/CSS used for the final PDF, and the resulting markup is sent back to display in your preview pane. This request is processed in memory and is not written to a database or log file containing your invoice content.
- Download PDF: when you click "Download PDF", your current invoice data is sent to our server, converted into a PDF file, streamed back to your browser as a download, and then discarded. We do not store generated PDFs or the invoice data used to create them on our servers after the request completes.
We do not require an account, a login, or any personally identifying registration information to use the Service. We do not sell, rent, or share your invoice content with third parties, because we do not retain it in the first place.
Server logs
Like most web servers, our hosting environment keeps standard technical logs (IP address, request timestamp, requested URL, user agent) for security and abuse-prevention purposes. These logs are used to detect and block malicious traffic and are periodically rotated. They are not used to build profiles of individual visitors.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage (not cookies) to save invoice drafts and your template/favorite preferences on your device. A minimal session cookie may be set to support security features (such as CSRF protection on form submissions) — see our Cookie Policy for the full list and how to control them.
Contact form
If you use the contact form, the name, email address, and message you submit are sent by email to our support address so we can respond to you. We do not add contact-form submissions to a marketing list, and we do not share them with third parties. The form includes a simple, self-hosted spam check (a basic math question) to reduce automated abuse — it runs entirely on our own server and does not involve a third-party CAPTCHA service or send any data about you to an outside company.
Analytics
We may use privacy-conscious, aggregate analytics (such as page-view counts) to understand which pages and features are useful, without tracking individuals across other websites or building advertising profiles.
Children's privacy
The Service is intended for business use by adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we handle data, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
